By comparison to some manufacturers, whose beginnings were in the early years of the 20th Century, Hyundai are relatively new kids on the block. The Korean brand didn’t officially exist as a car maker prior to 1967, releasing their first car in 1974. Obviously the range has expanded since then and now the company are part of the mainstream market for well-made, popular vehicles.

Hyundai Design & Technology

Digital design lies at the heart of the Hyundai process. Starting as always with concept car ideas, the brand’s designers think about that which they want any given car design to express. To clarify, the designers may wish to convey a car as dynamic and sporty, or put the spotlight on the latest technological infotainment or safety features.

The initial design sketches are usually no more than ideas on paper. Later, more detailed designs are made on screen digitally. In this way, styling, proportions, structure and technology develops to make an aesthetically pleasing whole. That’s the Hyundai philosophy.

The brand is making the truly smart car a reality with the very latest in automotive technology including driver assistance packages, night vision, traffic jam assistance and voice recognition. Mainstream does not mean ordinary.

Hyundai Cars

Like most cars makers, Hyundai produce a range of vehicles to suit most buyers. From small city cars, through smart hatchbacks and compact crossovers to a full-size SUV, all needs are catered for. Well liked by consumers, both new and used Hyundai cars are available.

The small i10 city car, with its lively 66bhp one litre engine is the ideal runaround, and for a bit more power there’s a 1.2L multi-point injection engine, useful for keeping up with highway traffic.

Consistently voted as one of the top small sport utility vehicles, the very smart and sharply designed five-seat Kona is ideal as a reasonably priced family car with a range of efficient petrol, diesel and hybrid engines. Modern electric cars are beginning to be a real alternative to the internal combustion versions and the 64kWh Kona Electric has been an instant hit. With an official range of around 300 miles, it will serve most users well, most of the time.

If a larger vehicle is needed then the evergreen Santa Fe SUV fits the bill. There’s a new version now, the latest iteration of the company’s longest-running flagship SUV. It’s big, efficient vehicle with five or seven seats and it comes with all-wheel drive as an option, useful when extra traction is required when driving on slippery, muddy, wet, or snow-covered roads, for example. There’s electrified power-trains too.

The i20 and i30 hatchbacks are well featured and have recently been updated, adding new technology and, slowly appearing across most of the Hyundai range, versions designed with an ‘N’, signifying high performance models. The i20N for example, is considered to be the best in class for a hot hatchback. There’s the new Bayon, a compact crossover, now as well, adding to the swelling ranks of small SUV-style vehicles. It is powered by a 1.0L petrol engine with with either 100bhp or 120bhp, the latter being a mild-hybrid.

Future Hyundai

The Ioniq has been popular with EV drivers for some time and the latest model brings the electric Hyundai right up to date. It’s a fabulous design with modern, streamlined styling and a high-tech interior, the Ioniq forms part of a huge electrification drive for the Korean manufacturer. VAT qualifying cars are popular with business users and for the third year running the Plug-in Hybrid version has been named Company Car PHEV of the Year. The EV is steadily making inroads into the business market.

It is the latest Ioniq 5 that is capturing the headlines though. Fabulous to behold, this futuristic new car is based upon Hyundai’s breakthrough Electric Global Modular Platform. Dictating the way forward for the brand, this new platform delivers faster charging, increased driving range, superior handling and more interior space.

In addition to real 21st Century mobility, the Ioniq 5 offers an interior that provides a whole new in-car experience, combining a both an environment-friendly living and driving space. Find out more about this EV of the future by contacting us here at MHH international for details.
