The McLaren brand of road-going sports cars was founded in 1985 and was an instant success. In 1992 they produced the Gordon Murray designed car that was astonishing at the time and something of a prestige legend now; the McLaren F1. Even today this car remains one the fastest sports car ever built; a car that even the great Bugatti Veyron trembles in its presence. Sadly, an example of this car would costs millions today but fear not; McLaren offer a range of great road rockets that offer style and performance by the bucket load and it all starts with the hugely capable 750.

The Le Mans Special Edition

This year McLaren Automotive celebrates the 30th anniversary of its winning debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans motor race and McLaren’s return to the top class of the event from 2027, incidentally. Just fifty examples of this edition are being built so the 750S Le Mans is set to be one of the most sought-after McLaren series production supercars.

The McLaren 750S Le Mans pays homage to the iconic race-winning F1 GTR with matching Le Mans Grey exterior paint, with the option of McLaren Orange also available, as in our images. The cars are fitted with a roll cage.

Features include a roof scoop and 5-spoke Le Mans wheels. Also featured is the new ‘MSO High Downforce Kit’, which adds visual drama to the 750S with a raised carbon fibre ‘Active Rear Spoiler’ with integral end plates. In conjunction with a front bumper featuring an enlarged carbon fibre splitter and rear wing, downforce is increased by ten per cent compared to the standard 750S, designed to enhance track performance and echoing the famous McLaren F1 LM edition’s aerodynamic additions. Completing the high downforce kit package is a new body-coloured carbon fibre under-wing panel featuring gloss black louvres.

The Look

Unlike some luxury cars, the McLaren doesn’t do brash. The interior of the Le Mans, (and indeed of the regular version of the brilliant 750S) is an object lesson in quiet stylishness. Everything is were it should be to enable the lucky pilot to get on with the important business of driving.

There’s a choice of two unique Le Mans interior themes; Carbon Black ‘Alcantara’ with Jet Black soft grain leather and Dove Grey ‘Alcantara’ or Carbon Black ‘Alcantara’ with Jet Black soft grain leather and McLaren Orange Alcantara. The carbon seats have Le Mans headrest branding and the floor mats also carry the LM logo. Special editions also include a bespoke Le Mans dedication plaque and the aforementioned colour combinations with Le Mans branding and a dedication plaque, with all cars featuring a portfolio of unique features as standard along with gold brake calipers with a red McLaren logo.

The Drive

This writer has been fortunate enough to spend some time with the regular 750S and can attest to the fact that car is a delight to drive. Because it is race-car-inspired, the attention to detail is fantastic. At no time does this car feel like it is getting away from a sensible driver, such is the quality of road-holding and safety. The multi-award winning benchmark-beating 750S performance delivered by the mid-mounted, 740BHP (750PS) ‘M840T’ four litre, twin-turbocharged V8 McLaren engine drives like a dream augmented by, again, a motor sport inspired carbon fibre ‘Monocage II’ central structure and ‘Proactive Chassis Control III’ suspension system, all of which help to ensure that the 750S is the lightest and most agile car in its class.

The 750S Le Mans is fitted as standard with Pirelli ‘P ZERO’ tyres, with even higher-performance Pirelli ‘P ZERO Corsa’ and racetrack-focused Pirelli ‘P ZERO Trofeo R’ tyres as options. All three tyres are engineered by McLaren and its tyre technical partner Pirelli, as are the Pirelli ‘P ZERO Winter’ tyres available from McLaren retailers.

The 750S Le Mans marks not just 30 years since the company’s debut victory in the iconic race but an exciting time for the brand with McLaren GT3 EVO cars competing in this year’s race and the announcement of the brand’s return to the top ‘Hypercar’ class in 2027.
