If you were to take the Ford Ranger, the hard grafting pick-up truck and modify it in a multitude of ways, you transform it into the off road monster that is the Ford Ranger Raptor.

Off Road Beast

The engine has been upgraded from a 2L diesel (210bhp) to a monster 3.0L twin turbo V6 petrol engine producing 284 bhp a huge 491Nm of torque. The tuning has ensured the engine has immediate response via the anti-lag system which keeps the turbocharger spinning when you step off the accelerator and enables rapid delivery of boost on demand.

Seven driving modes for different terrain including roads, sport, grass, gravel, snow, mud and rocks. All new trail control function high is a 20 mph cruise control. Drive is delivered via the advanced ten-speed automatic transmission. You can even tailor the engine noise and exhaust sounds to four setting which range from quiet mode to Baja mode, if you want to upset the neighbours, which allows the engine to shout from the rooftops at its loudest.

Underbody protection has also been enhanced. The front bash plate is twice the size of the Ford Range’s and is made from 2.3mm high strength steel. This is combined with an engine under shield and transfer case shield to protect the beast’s vitals during its tougher terrain missions.

Exterior Styling and Extra Kit

Bold muscular styling gives the Raptor a commanding presence. Flared wheel arches highlight the increased width. Underneath sit 17 inch alloy wheels 33-inch with exclusive AT3 all-terrain tyres. The grille and the rear are framed by C clamp headlights and tail lights. LED lights at the front & rear come with predictive curve lights, autodynamics levelling and glare free beam provide better visibility for drivers and other road users.

There’s a lot of added kit which sets it apart from the standard Ranger. The Raptor gets a front aluminium skid plate, ventilated brake discs all round, a grippy side step constructed in strengthened alloy, four off-road tow hooks, the load bay has added security from a roller shutter and the trailer tow pack also includes a towing hitch.

Inside the Beast

Inside the Raptor has a sporty edgy feel with modern tech. Unusual for a pick up but spot on. Sports seats have contrast stitching and orange accents on the instrument panel, seats and trim. Bespoke ambient lighting bathes the interior in an amber glow. The premium leather sports steering wheel has cast-magnesium paddle shifts and thumb swells to continue the sporty feel.

The 12.4 in digital instrument cluster is coupled with a 12 inch portrait oriented touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless connection is available for Apple carplay and Android Auto. And they haven’t scrimped on sound either, a 10 speaker Bang Olufsen sound system is standard for musicophiles.

Ford have done everything to deliver unbeatable off road credentials and deliver a remarkably civilised interior cabin for a pick up truck. There’s a lot to love about this monster! Find out for yourself and get in touch today.
