The Mercedes EQS SUV is now open for orders. This is Mercedes’ first fully bespoke electric car, the sleek aero design features the familiar EQ flush front styling. The EQS SUV shared the long wheelbase with the EQS saloon but with a 200mm higher frame. Whilst the footprint is smaller than the GLS, Merc have comfortably fitted in 7 seats.

Impressively the EQS is one of the safest cars yet, having achieved one of the highest safety ratings from EURO NCAP. The offroad driving mode raises the suspension, limits power and cleverly allocates the power around each wheel responsively.

The EQS 450+ produces 328 bhp, can go from 0-60 in 6.2 seconds and has a claimed battery range of 450 miles. Choose the AMG 53 EQS and get a staggering 649 bhp, a claimed range of 360 miles and 0-62 in 3.8 seconds.

Inside you can expect a generously spacious cabin laden with premium materials and an abundance of Napa leather. The third row of seats provides two additional individual seats. In addition to the usual array of options the EQS has:

- Individually reclining rear seats with massage options

- Infotainment Hyperscreen with 17.7 inch central infotainment and 12.3 passenger touchscreen

- The second row of seats can be electrically adjusted as standard

- Augmented reality sat nav

- Trailer Manoeuvring Assist

- Massive luggage capacity of 650 litres + 150 bonnet litres
