Electric cars seem at present to be the automotive future for all and it is Tesla cars that have consistently been ahead of the game. Since 2008 the company has been at the forefront of the EV revolution and now can be said to have entered the mainstream arena with electric cars that have gained in popularity as time has gone by.

Tesla Design

From the outset, the Tesla plan was to prove that EV’s can be cleaner, cheaper to run, faster and more fun to drive than cars powered by fossil fuels. Today’s Tesla empire includes not only some of the best electric cars available but also plans to be the innovator for the further development of clean energy generation and electric storage.

Tesla Cars

Model X

With, of course, zero exhaust emissions and more or less silent running, coupled with instant acceleration and all-wheel drive, make the Model X truly the best example of the SUV of the future. With charging times getting faster and with a growing network of dedicated charging locations, this great family car makes real sense. With the battery pack positioned low down handling is improved, being inherently well-balanced and stable thanks to a low centre of gravity.

The interior is large and roomy and models can be configured for up to seven seats with plenty of luggage space. Tesla fast chargers can now add 170 miles of range in just thirty minutes, more or less solving the range issue for all but the longest drive. The coupé-style model Y completes the Tesla SUV range.

Model S

The Model S is the car that has really shaken up the executive market. A VAT qualifying car (Ask us here at MHH International about VAT savings) and operated through a huge 17” touchscreen, this large and surprisingly practical vehicle has the potential to whisk the occupants away for over three hundred miles; sufficient for most business trips. There’s a generous boot (trunk) at the rear and, thanks to absence of an engine, more storage space at the front too. It’s no slouch either; top speed is said to be around 200 miles per hour but at the expense of range, obviously.

The Tesla range is augmented by the very well-received Model 3. Good to drive and with an impressive real world range, this is possibly the car that has brought the brand into the mainstream.

Future Tesla

Seemingly delayed, it is not known if the astonishing Tesla roadster will make an appearance. If it does, buyers can expect a range of over six hundred miles. It may be helped along by the announcement that recently, Tesla announced a new type of battery cell. An interesting development from this is that the company are now looking at making the battery an integral part of the vehicle instead of as a pack. The thinking is that the battery pack acts as a part of body structure, with the battery cells helping to solidify the platform as one big unit. It remains to be seen if this becomes a reality.

New cars are being added to the range but the brand is also looking to the future, driving forward the advent of clean transport and clean energy production. They see a future world where electric cars, batteries and renewable energy generation and storage combine as a whole for both transport and living.
